Inspirations

Inspirational, irreverent, topical and even funny; quotes can summarise big ideas, principles or values and help our process of reflection and creativity. This page is different from the others on the site as it collects quotes and other inspirational material to help all of us looking to reflect, challenge and un-block our thinking.

Mental health is usually consigned to the ghetto by a wider world that does not understand or care. Often those of us involved do not help ourselves by incarcerating our vision and thinking within the narrow confines of accepted mental health orthodoxies, agendas and what has gone before. Even the ones who like to think of themselves as radicals get caught in the narrow trap of an inward looking specialism. It is a fundamental belief of InterAction that by seeking new ideas and inspiration from the outside world we can re-conceptualise and rethink mental health in new and fresh ways. Social development agendas, the wider disability movement, environmental issues, the arts and even modern business thinking can all bring new insights and possibilities - new things to test and experiment with in a mental health context - new things for mental health to share with our communities and the outside world.
